LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) has identified the two officers who fatally shot a person during a robbery investigation over the weekend.
According to LMPD , the shooting happened just before 10 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22 in the 100 block of East Southland Boulevard.
Officers Patrick Norton and Richard Waller were responding to a report of an armed robbery when they saw a person who matched the suspect’s description.
Police said the person fled and pulled out a handgun, which is when both officers fired their guns, fatally striking the person.
Waller, a Fourth Division officer, was hired in November 2022. Norton, a K-9 handler assigned to LMPD’s Special Operations Division, was hired in June 2016.
Records provided by LMPD show that Waller has no history of discipline
