A Brevard County homeowner has been issued a criminal citation after he attempted to remove stormwater from his property.
The Durivage family had planned to move into their new home in Cocoa this month, but historic rainfall at the end of October changed that timeline.
“I’ve been working practically nonstop trying to alleviate the situation,” Richard Durivage said.
On Oct. 26, 16 inches of rain fell in the Brevard County area. One month later, water is still covering his driveway and yard.
“We had about three, three and a half feet of standing water here after the storm, so we started pumping some out,” Durivage said.
He began pumping water across the street to a ditch not far from railroad tracks.
