SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Crosslines works to meet rising demand as the holidays approach.

The food pantry says increased requests for help during the holidays are normal. Demand has not increased as much as expected, but the CEO says the people seeking assistance are different. Over the past 18 months, 20 percent of guests have visited for the first time.

The organization helps cover Thanksgiving meals. More than 1,300 turkeys were distributed last weekend, along with stuffing, cranberry sauce, and other Thanksgiving staples.

Applications for holiday assistance have closed. Distribution day is December 22.
