San Vicente Road in Ramona was the scene of a nasty head-on crash late on Tuesday morning.

According to investigators, a 75-year-old Ramona man was behind the wheel of a 2006 Club Car Golf Cart weighing about 900 pounds that was headed west in the eastbound lane at about 11 a.m. while a 2004 Toyota Tundra, weighing a minimum of 2 tons, was approaching Camino Arriba in the same lane.

That stretch of San Vicente Road is fairly straight and features a divider between the east- and westbound lanes, but there are two lanes on either side of the island.

Although the man in the golf cart was ejected onto the road in the collision, he survived the crash and was taken to Palomar Hospital. The CHP did say, however, that he suffered major injuries. The pickup driver was unhurt.
