PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Hundreds of Arizona families with autistic children must find new therapy providers after their Medicaid insurance plan dropped coverage for certain providers because of a contract dispute over reimbursement rates.
Starting in March, families insured by Mercy Care will have to find new applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy providers after the insurer cut ties with providers like Action Behavior Centers and Centria.
ABA therapists design tailored plans to help kids communicate, eat, use the bathroom, and develop other daily living skills.
In a statement, Mercy Care said it will continue to offer families options through a “robust network of over 75 ABA providers” and a “dedicated team ready to support individuals and their families during the transition.”
