RICHMOND, Va. — Typical residential customers of Dominion Energy can expect to pay about $11.24 per month more to keep the lights on in 2026. That's according to the final order issued Tuesday by Virginia's State Corporation Commission.
Testimony held during a public hearing in September showed “considerable concern” from the public about the potential for rate increases. Thousands of residential ratepayers spoke out about rising costs in all aspects of life, saying it is a bad time for rate increases, as well as the concern that residential rate increases would subsidize large users of energy like data centers.
"I don't know how I or any of my neighbors will be able to afford this," said one caller. "We are already stretched thin, and I just don't know what I'll do."
