IDAHO, USA — The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (DHW) says it has seen an increase in reports of people getting sick after consuming raw milk. DHW is working with state and local partners to investigate the situation.

DHW says there have been at least 23 reported cases in Idaho of Campylobacter, six of which involved kids under the age of 12, and three cases of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) infections from consuming raw milk since August 1 of this year.

According to DHW, the cases reported throughout Idaho involved multiple people who sought medical care, and two who were hospitalized after consuming raw milk from different brands.
