CHENEY, Wash. — Washington State Patrol (WSP) is investigating a two-car crash near Cheney that left one person dead and another injured on Tuesday morning.

According to WSP, the crash happened on west Highway 904 about four miles north of Cheney just before 9:30 a.m.

The road was reopened as of 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

WSP says a driver was traveling westbound on Highway 904 when they crossed the median and collided head-on with a car traveling eastbound. The 47-year-old driver of the westbound car died on the scene.

WSP says the other driver, an 84-year-old man, was injured and taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center.

WSP is still investigating the cause of the crash, and says it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved.
