MADISON, Wis. (WBAY) - 47 new data center proposals are currently under consideration across Wisconsin, prompting discussions about energy demands and regulatory oversight.

The Wisconsin Technology Council held a panel discussion Tuesday examining the potential impacts of the proposed facilities.

Energy experts, advocates and data center professionals discussed both benefits and costs associated with Wisconsin’s data center expansion.

“Everything is being turned on its head by an extraordinary need for an additional capacity to meet, what everyone agrees, is an extraordinary new demand,” said Arthur Harrington, a Marquette University Law Professor.
