Police say they’ve thwarted an attempt by a group linked to the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club to set up a new chapter in Edmonton.

Investigators announced the results of an almost yearlong investigation on Tuesday, culminating in a series of arrests of people accused of being involved with the One Order Motorcycle Club.

Edmonton Police Service organized crime branch Insp. Darrin Gordon said the group has chapters in the Toronto area and Halifax, and members have been identified as “one percenters” — part of motorcycle culture that doesn’t adhere to the law.

“These are criminal organizations that are associated with trafficking in firearms and in drugs,” Gordon said.
