SPOKANE, Wash — The City of Spokane officially has a new member of the City Council.
This is the first time councilwoman Kate Telis will be sworn in as she fills the empty seat by Lili Navarrete, then, come January, she will be sworn in again with other city council newcomer Sarah Dixit.
Inside the City Council Chambers, it's all smiles and clapping as councilwoman Kate Telis is officially sworn in to serve District 2 alongside councilman Paul Dillon.
"I think if we go for thinking about what would be best for Spokane, that will really unify us," said Telis.
Despite just getting sworn in, Telis says she is ready to tackle some of the big-ticket items recently discussed by the council. More specifically, how to close the $13 million budget gap in 2026.
