A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder after a 16-year-old boy was shot in Sheffield, police have said. South Yorkshire Police said officers responded at 5.15pm on Monday (November 24) to reports of a shooting in the city centre in London Road.

The victim was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition. The boy, 15, was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and remains in custody, police said.

The force said London Road was busy at the time of the incident, with rush-hour traffic and people returning home or visiting local businesses. Police and paramedics raced to the scene following the reported shooting.
