Oxford, Miss. (WLBT) - The Ole Miss Rebels dropped to No. 7 in the latest College Football Playoff ranking.

In the current CFP bracket, No. 7 Ole Miss would host No. 10 Alabama in the first round of the playoffs.

The Rebels are coming off a bye ahead of Friday’s Egg Bowl against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. It will be the 122nd time these two schools have faced off on the gridiron.

With a win, it would all but guarantee the Rebels their first-ever College Football Playoff appearance; however, Lane Kiffin’s future could affect the Rebels’ placement in the final CFP Ranking on December 7.
