Rutgers nearly lost a starter for its do-or-die season finale against Penn State because of a court decision, but the crisis has been averted.

The preliminary injunction that Scarlet Knights safety Jett Elad was granted prior to the 2025 season was overturned Tuesday morning by the United States Court of Appeals.

In response, Elad filed a motion for a temporary restraining order through his attorney Kevin Marino on Tuesday afternoon that would allow him to play against the Nittany Lions.

It was approved by U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi, who presided over Elad’s lawsuit earlier this year, on Tuesday afternoon, according to Sam C. Ehrlich, a former lawyer and current professor at Boise State.
