Congressional Democrats representing Minnesota plan to fight a recent change to federal law that effectively bans hemp-derived THC products, out of concern for the state's burgeoning industry.
During a press conference on Monday, U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith and U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar pledged to work to reverse the ban on intoxicating hemp products, like low-dose THC seltzers, before it goes into effect in a year.
As the lead Democrat in the U.S. Senate's agricultural committee, of which Smith is also a member, Klobuchar feels they're well-positioned "to do something to fix this," though she admitted "that's not easy to say in Washington right now."
