FRISCO, Texas — Old Dominion women’s basketball couldn’t overcome a cold shooting night and early Texas Tech runs, dropping the first game of the 2025 Women’s Hoopfest Challenge, 67–42, on Tuesday night.
“It was a tough night of shooting and finding a rhythm suitable for us to make a better game to put on display,” ODU head coach DeLisha Milton-Jones said. “Texas Tech's length bothered us on too many occasions tonight.”
Texas Tech (8-0) set the tone immediately, opening on a 7-0 run in the first four minutes, sparked by a Jaylnn Bristow three-pointer just 18 seconds after the opening tip. Free throws from Sarengbe Sanogo and Bailey Maupin pushed the early lead to seven.
Old Dominion (5-2) briefly cut the deficit to three behind free throws from Laila Walker and a jumper by Kelsey Thomps
