On Wednesday at 12:59 a.m. a lake effect snow warning was released by the National Weather Service valid from Thursday 1 a.m. until Friday 7 p.m. for St. Lawrence County.
The weather service says, "Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 10 inches. Winds gusting as high as 30 to 40 mph."
"Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Travel could be very difficult.
