A school is shut for the next two days - due to a 'flu-like illness'. Congleton High School is now shut for a 'deep-clean' after 'high levels of sickness absence' this week.

It follows advice from the UK Health Security Agency and an infection control team. It means the Box Lane school is now shut on November 26 and 27 - with parents receiving a further update on the afternoon of Thursday 27 November.

Symptoms can include a fever, cough, tiredness, a runny nose, and headaches.

A letter to parents states: "There have been a number of cases of flu-like illness in the school so far this week leading to high levels of sickness absence.
