COLDWATER, MI — Voters in the Coldwater Community School district will decide on a $64 million 1.5 mill tax for 20 years to renovate and upgrade Coldwater High School on the May 6, 2026, ballot.

The board on Monday, Nov. 24 voted unanimously, with George Steel absent, to send the proposal to the state treasurer for placement on the ballot.

A 22-member community committee reviewed all district facilities and focused on the oldest building, the 1957 high school, which has aging infrastructure. An assessment showed 48% of it needed critical repairs.

The plan is designed to meet modern instructional needs and renovate current buildings adding classrooms that will serve for years to come.
