A Suffolk town council is engaging with the public about a possible takeover of green spaces in a Suffolk market town.

Woodbridge Town Council is being asked to take over green and built spaces currently owned by East Suffolk Council and Suffolk County Council when a reorganisation of local government takes place.

The changes are set to see the district and county councils being abolished and replaced with one or more unitary authorities.

The town council will be considering whether to take on areas such as the open space on Castle Street, Houchells Meadow and the land beside Woodbridge Day Nursery next to Kyson School and the Model Boating Pond, which are all under district or county control.
