NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A woman was found dead on a sidewalk early Wednesday morning, prompting an investigation, according to Newport News police.

Around 3:13 a.m., police responded to the 4500 Block of Jefferson Avenue. A woman was found dead on the sidewalk at the scene, according to Newport News police. The cause of the death remains under investigation.
