GRAND FORKS – From Laura Glanner’s perspective, the murals on building exteriors in Grafton, North Dakota, have enhanced the vibe in her hometown and brought people together for a common purpose.

In her role as a member of the Grafton Beautification Committee, Glanner has been at the forefront of projects that have turned blank walls into vibrant works of public art.

“When I drive through the city, it looks more vibrant,” she said.

One of the murals, “Active Community, Endless Opportunity” – created by Beau Bakken, a Hallock, Minnesota, artist – on Highway 17 and 12th Street is especially inspiring.

“When you drive by, you think, ‘ya, what else can I do?’” said Glanner, a massage therapist who’s lived in Grafton for 15 years.
