Israeli forces overnight Tuesday launched a wide-scale counterterrorism operation in northern Samaria.

Israel “will not allow terrorism to take root in the area and [troops] are acting proactively to thwart it,” the Israel Defense Forces and Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) announced in a joint statement.

The statement said additional details would be forthcoming.

Earlier this month, the IDF completed a three-day “ Lion’s Roar ” military training exercise in the Judea, Samaria and Jordan Valley area, which involved the Judea and Samaria Division and the recently established 96th Division, led by the Central Command.

More than 180 Israeli Air Force aircraft provided support to ground forces, who trained for more than 40 different scenarios, the IDF said.
