Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury Jason Mumpower announced the hiring of Kayla Carr as director of state government finance.

Carr currently serves as the division’s assistant director and has worked in state government for nearly two decades.

Carr assumes the role due to the looming retirement of the division’s longtime director Sandi Thompson, who will leave the position Nov. 30 after 17 years working in state finance. During Thompson's time as director, Tennessee has maintained a AAA bond rating.

Carr holds a bachelor's degree in business and a master's degree in accounting, both from Murray State University.
