The Livingston County Sheriff’s office will take over responsibilities for the county’s Dog Control Department on Jan. 1, 2026, with Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty promising many improvements to the facility.
Dougherty, speaking at a press conference at the shelter on Tuesday morning, said those improvements will include faster response times, extended hours, increased coverage, and even increased adoptions.
