THERE must be a full inquiry into the potentially “criminal” leak of key details from the Labour Budget before the Chancellor delivered her speech, the Tories have said.
Rachel Reeves was due to give her Budget to the Commons from 12.30pm on Wednesday, but just before midday, the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) published its full economic and fiscal outlook .
Normally published only after the Budget, the OBR document revealed key Labour tax and benefit policies, as well as “market-sensitive information”.
Mel Stride, the shadow chancellor, told the Commons that the “unprecedented” leak may be criminal.
He said: “This report contains market-sensitive information. It is utterly outrageous that this has happened, and this leak may indeed constitute a criminal act.
