CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The National Weather Service has issued a lake effect snow warning for parts of Northeast Ohio.
The lake effect snow warning goes into effect for Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, and Lake counties starting at 1 a.m. Thursday.
That warning is set to expire at 7 p.m. Friday though that is subject to change.
A wind advisory covering most of the area is in effect through 4 a.m. Thursday.
In Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Lake and Lorain counties, there is a wind advisory active until 1 a.m. Friday.
Lake effect snow expert and Meteorologist Jeff Tanchak says on Thanksgiving, lake effect snow will impact northern Ohio off of Lake Michigan and Lake Erie.
He says significant snow accumulation is forecasted for some towns east of Cleveland where squalls persist.
