A war of words has broken out over the presence of mixed Palestine and Scotland flags on lampposts in Glasgow.

The Palestine Saltire, or ‘Paltire', has been spotted flying on streets in the country's largest city as well as Edinburgh in recent weeks.

City of Edinburgh Council has already said it will take down the flags .

A number of media outlets, including The Herald, have been copied into enquiries sent to councillors in wards five and 10 in Glasgow regarding the flags, which appear to be a letter template.

It is common for groups to send template letters to politicians and organisations as part of an organised campaign.

However, at least some of the letters in question appear to come from people who do not live in Glasgow.
