Scientists reviewing hep B vaccine before ACIP
Next Thursday, the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices will vote on whether or not to maintain the agency’s recommendation that all babies get their first dose of the hepatitis B vaccine on their first day of life. This has been the strategy since 1991, and in the intervening decades, infant infections have been nearly eliminated in the U.S., and infections in kids have dropped by at least 90%.
