It has been confirmed today that the two-child benefit limit will be scrapped. In a bizarre set of circumstances, the major change was confirmed before Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced her hugely anticipated Budget plans in the House of Commons.
That's because the Office for Budget Responsibility - the government's independent fiscal watchdog - accidentally released the Budget measures early in what it described as a "technical error", meaning all of Ms Reeves' plans were out in the public domain before she even started talking.
