LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A Lake Charles man is behind bars after deputies said he hit a pedestrian on Nelson Road and drove away.

A man was walking south on the edge of the road south of Ham Reid Road after midnight Sunday when an SUV headed north hit him and threw him to the ground, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kayla Vincent said. He was brought to a hospital with cuts, lacerations and bruises on his right torso, arm and leg.

Detectives identified the suspect vehicle as a Nissan Rogue, which they found parked in front of its owner’s home with damage to the front right fender and passenger side mirror consistent with the crash, Vincent said.
