ENGLEWOOD, Fla. (WWSB) - Tuesday morning, Englewood Fire Department responded to a brush fire near Winchester Boulevard.
Due to low visibility from the smoke Winchester Boulevard between Sunset Road and Cougar Way was temporarily closed to ensure the safety those in the area.
Englewood fire reports that the fire burned through brush on undeveloped residential lots along Sunset Road. Crews responded quickly containing the fire before any homes or structures were affected.
As the suncoast enters dry season it’s important to remember even small sparks can spread quickly. Englewood Area Fire Control reminds its residents to be mindful of outdoor burning, properly dispose of cigarettes, and avoid parking on dry grass. Taking extra caution helps prevent fires and keeps the community safe.
