Hamilton police are trying to identify two suspects after an alleged hate-motivated assault against a transgender person in Hess Village last month.
The victim and friends first encountered a group of people as they were leaving a bar on Hess Street South early on Oct. 25, said Const. Trevor McKenna.
Following that initial incident, the victim’s friends left the area. The victim was on their own around 2:30 a.m. when a group of males assaulted the victim, during which transphobic slurs were used, he said.
The victim was transported to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
While multiple people took part in the incident, two men were clearly the “primary aggressors,” McKenna said.
