Two men wanted for an alleged hate-motivated assault against a transgender person in Hess Village last month have been arrested by Hamilton police.
Police issued an appeal for help identifying two suspects this week, following the Oct. 25 assault.
Around 2:30 a.m. that morning, the victim and friends first encountered a group as they left a bar on Hess Street South. Soon after, the victim — who was now alone after their friends left the area — was “viciously” assaulted by a group of males, police said. Transphobic slurs were used during the assault.
The victim was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
A 23-year-old Hamilton man and a 21-year-old Hamilton man have been arrested. Both face a charge of assault causing bodily harm.
