PEORIA, Ill. – A man was found deceased after a garage fire Wednesday morning in Peoria.
Peoria Fire says crews responded to the area of Perry and Spring just after 8:15 A.M., finding smoke and fire from a one stall detached garage in the alley.
The fire was under control in about ten minutes, with crews staying on scene for about two hours after putting out hot spots. The garage is considered a total loss.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. There were no injuries to firefighters.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says an African-American male was found inside the garage deceased. He says an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday and is working with Peoria Police to identify the victim.
