SAGINAW, MI — A substitute teacher is charged with assaulting a child at a Saginaw elementary school, albeit 13 months after the alleged crime occurred.
Prosecutors on Nov. 5 issued a warrant for 72-year-old Charline Bodiford, charging her with fourth-degree child abuse. The misdemeanor is punishable by up to one year in jail or probation for up to five years.
A person is guilty of the charge if their omission or reckless act causes physical harm to a child and/or they knowingly commit an act that poses an unreasonable risk of harm to a child, according to state law .
Bodiford was a contracted temporary teacher at Stone Elementary School, 1006 State St., when she allegedly assaulted a 6-year-old male student on Oct. 17, 2024. Surveillance cameras recorded the boy lying in a hallway as
