GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — You can expect to see more travelers at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport this week, as a recent study found traffic spikes nearly 12% during the holidays.
A study by Luxury Link analyzed over 360 airports across the U.S. and compared their holiday traffic numbers compared to their regular daily averages. This included both major and small hub airports.
The study measured changes in daily passenger traffic during the holiday season, average daily traffic for holiday and non-holiday periods, and separate averages for Thanksgiving and the winter holidays.
It defines the holiday season to be the Friday prior to Thanksgiving through the Monday after, and the Friday before Christmas through Jan. 2.
