POWESHIEK COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) - The Iowa State Patrol released its report on Tuesday’s fatal pedestrian crash on I-80.
The crash happened in the westbound lane around 5:30 a.m. near the 202 mile marker.
An ISP Sergeant out of Poweshiek County responded to the crash and reported that the pedestrian was struck in the right-hand lane.
The report does not state why the pedestrian was in the road or who hit the pedestrian.
The crash report identified 36-year-old Nicholas Andres Quintero, from Toledo, Ohio, as the person who was killed.
Officials say in the report that the driver may not have known that they hit someone.
There was a dense fog advisory in effect in the area during the time of the crash.
Part of the road was blocked off Tuesday as emergency crews cleared the scene.
