ANDOVER, Maine — An Andover woman suffered significant burn injuries to her face and head after her tubing for her supplemental oxygen ignited.
Emergency officials responded to the home on Horseshoe Pond Road after receiving a call about the incident around 10 a.m. Monday.
Investigators say a woman who uses supplemental oxygen was using a heat-based hair-removal device when the oxygen tubing ignited, causing a flash fire.
The woman was first brought to Rumford Hospital before she was flown by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center in Portland to receive "higher-level" care.
Investigators did not disclose details about her condition or identifying information.
