White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has a family connection to a woman being detained in an ICE facility in Louisiana, media reports say.

The mother of Leavitt’s nephew, 33-year-old Bruna Ferreira, is held at the South Louisiana ICE Processing Center in Basile, according to ICE records.

Earlier this month, Ferreira was taken into custody as she was leaving her home in Revere, Massachusetts to pick up her son from school in New Hampshire, The Boston Globe reported.

Ferreira, who migrated to America with her family as a child from Brazil, has an 11-year-old son with Michael Leavitt, the brother of Karoline Leavitt, WBUR in Boston reported . A Trump Administration official confirmed the family connection to the Boston Globe.
