ATLANTA — Pete Skandalakis, the executive director of the Prosecuting Attorneys Council of Georgia, who appointed himself this month to oversee the 2020 election interference case involving President Donald Trump and other defendants, has dropped the charges in the case.
Skandalakis on Wednesday filed a motion to "nolle prosequi," or not prosecute, in the case, to "serve the interests of justice and promote judicial finality."

That motion was granted in a one-page order by Judge Scott McAfee. The once-historic Fulton County election interference case, which at one point brought Trump to Atlanta to be booked into the county jail, complete with a mug shot that instantly became both infamous and iconic, has come to an end.
