Fifteen years after Small Business Saturday was created, Reno's local businesses are still marking the day as a way to foster community, promote their own stores and support other small shops.

"That feeling of community is really important for small businesses basically during the holiday season because it really keeps us going," said Ilya Arbatman, co-owner of Radical Cat, a bookstore that also fosters cats that are available for adoption and is one of the businesses participating in Midtown's Small Business Saturday. "You have to do outreach and you have to help foster that sense of community. You have to continue to remind each other and remind ourselves that we're all in this together."
