GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Gainesville High School filed suit Wednesday against the Georgia High School Association as they seek to have 31 remaining suspensions against players over a fight last Friday night lifted before their next playoff game against Langston Hughes.

As of Wednesday afternoon, it's unclear whether a hearing can be scheduled in time for the Friday night game, with both Thanksgiving and Black Friday being legal holidays. The petition was filed in Hall County Superior Court.

The GHSA on Tuesday reinstated only four of the 39 players who were originally suspended from playing in Friday night's playoff game.

Gainesville was not contesting four of the suspensions, acknowledging that those players threw punches or otherwise directly got involved in the brawl. That leaves 31 play
