The acts of a man who deliberately drove his car into hundreds of football fans turned “a day of joy and celebration into a terrifying incident”, according to the leader of Liverpool Council . As thousands of jubilant Liverpool fans stood on Water Street in May to celebrate their club’s Premier League victory, a former Royal Marine was about to unleash a moment of terror.
More than 100 pedestrians, ranging from children aged as young as six months to a 78-year-old woman, were injured after being struck by a Paul Doyle in Ford Galaxy on Water Street . Fifty casualties required hospital treatment in the aftermath of the shocking incident, although they were later discharged.
