A winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 1:01 p.m. valid from Friday 1 a.m. until Saturday 7 a.m. for Fulton, Montgomery and Schoharie counties.

The weather service says to expect, "Total snow accumulations up to 3 inches to 5 inches in the most persistent lake effect snow bands. Wind gusts up to 35 mph."

"Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes," comments the weather service. "During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather, visibility, and road conditions. Slow down and use caution while traveling."
