HARPSWELL, Maine (WABI) - Maine State Police say a World War II era explosive device was found at a home in Harpswell.
Police say a person at the home called officials Tuesday to report the device.
Officials then secured the area.
The State Police Bomb Squad and Maine Air National Guard’s 101st explosive ordnance disposal team helped identify the device.
They say it was a British artillery round.
After removing it to a safe place, officials were able to determine the device had no explosive material inside.
Police remind everyone if you come across a suspicious item to report it immediately to authorities and do not touch it.
