OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A 38-year-old man was sentenced this week to spend decades in prison for a shooting in May that left another man injured.
Dukhan Dumas was sentenced to 27-30 years in prison for second-degree assault, use of a firearm to commit a felony, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Judge LeAnne Srb handed down the sentence Tuesday in Douglas County District Court.
A 32-year-old man was shot multiple times on the morning of Saturday, May 10, near 42nd Street and Ames Avenue.
Authorities said Dumas and another man got into an altercation with a stranger in a parking lot. They said his accomplice, David Taylor, pulled out a gun, but Dumas grabbed it — taking possession of the weapon — and shot the victim several times.
