OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A man originally charged with 1st-degree murder for a fatal shooting in Midtown last year has changed his plea to no contest.
Darnell Marion-Jones , 20, reached a plea agreement for manslaughter and possession of a deadly weapon during a felony. Charges of evidence tampering and conspiracy to commit a felony were dropped.
His sentencing date is not yet scheduled.
Marion-Jones, Marquis Jones, and a then-15-year-old were charged in connection with the death of Cameron Watkins near 40th and Franklin Streets on Sept. 16, 2024. Two others were also shot.
The teen suspect involved in the shooting had his case moved to juvenile court in August and has not been named. He has since entered a plea of admission and was placed on probation.
