SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - A very special anniversary celebration was held Wednesday on Orlando Street in Springfield. It was for John and Geri Spear, who have now been married for 66 years.

The Spears have a long and storied history in Springfield. They got married on Thanksgiving in 1959 in the same home they live in today and where Geri was raised. Over the next 66 years, they went on to have eight children, 30 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Geri owned the Costume Closet on Belmont Avenue for 44 years, while John owned Spears Specialty Shows for 40 years, which actually made over 90 pairs of shoes for the Grinch movie starring Jim Carey.
