With the help of Kingston aluminum manufacturer Novelis, Home Base Housing is transforming a newly purchased home on Joseph Street into “safe, affordable transitional housing for families moving on from crisis.”
The home is an extension of Lily’s Place, Kingston’s only emergency family shelter and it will provide formerly homeless families with a stable place to live as they work toward long-term housing security, according to a news release.

Novelis donated the time and manpower to help renovate the house. The team is led by Brian Lambert, a long-standing Novelis employee and member of the United Steel Workers Union (USW).
